Week #39 - Ramamurthy Nagar - "Didn't know you could cancel fun..."

Well, this week we were going to have a zone activity but it didn't end up working out. Turns out all of the places we wanted to go to are too far away. Then no one wanted to go to a closer place so we might be the only zone who decided not to have an activity. Oh well, what to do. I find myself saying that a lot. A lot of times you can't control what happens so why worry too much.

Anyway this week was, well it was a week. Prettisha, who was progressing well, decided she didn't want to meet with us anymore. She said something was wrong from the time we started to teach her. I attribute it to the fact that she is used to churches that use loud upbeat music to substitute the actual spirit. She enjoys going to church every day of the week to sing and dance, so it was likely much different for her to go to a church meeting that is reverent.

Anyway, Yesu and his family came back in town this week and we stopped by but it seems that they are shifting homes and I don't know whereto because we didn't have a translator. But if I understood hand motions correctly it shouldn't be too far so we should still be able to visit them.

Well honestly can't think of too much else to talk about this week,

So until next week,

Week #38 - Ramamurthy Nagar - "Happy Good Friday!"

I mean Easter. Almost forgot that was the real holiday since it seems like they celebrate Good Friday more than Easter since Friday is a government holiday and Easter is not.

We had an activity on Saturday, the Easter Open House. We spent Friday setting it up and a little bit on Saturday. The Easter Open House is 5 rooms representing Jesus' last actions, such as the Last supper, The Garden of Gethsemane, The cross, The Empty Tomb and then the Book of Mormon. We had over 100 people show up which is really good for a rented building, over 30 of them were non-members. We taught a lot in each of these rooms so that people could understand a little better Jesus Christs last experiences.

The best part was that we had one of our investigators Prettisha helped us set up on for about five hours and we got to teach all the while though she doesn't need too much teaching. She already has an amazing relationship with God and she looks to him in every single thing she does.

Yesu and his family came back from their native home yesterday so we will be going to meet them today. I am excited to see them again and see if they remember anything that we taught them before.

Thursday was voting day here so we had to stay inside until 6 o'clock then we went to a members home where we got rained in and had to stay for a little while.

On Sunday I got to watch Suresh Antony bless the sacrament so that was a special experience and I finally got to sing in the meeting after about a month of trying to and not being able to. It was a very great Easter.

Week #37 - Ramamurthy Nagar - "How about that conference?"

We filled in a couple of **blanks** from what we know in talking with him this week;)

So we got to watch General Conference this week and that was naturally really nice though I was feeling really sick during the Saturday session so that was a little rough but I felt better by Sunday so that was fine.**most likely got sick from overeating a delicious chicken curry fed to him the night before by a member family;) the other missionaries from his flat ate there as well but did not over eat and did not get sick;)**

We met with Babu and his family this week after not meeting them in a couple weeks and our meeting went really well. Brother Babu just the day before had been thinking that he hadn't seen us in a while. They also recently had a relative pass away so we shared the message of the Plan of Salvation and answered their questions regarding it. We aren't certain at this point whether that will cause them a change in heart enough to listen to our invitations now but we will pray and visit them as much as we can. They are shifting their home this week so we are planning to go and the Elders quorum was planning to help.**he was grateful they followed the prompting to go visit them and hoped that Babu could see the connection as well…shifting means moving, we are assuming that’s another British term adopted there in India along with them saying flats for apartments and autos for cars?**

Today Yesu and his family should have arrived from their native village so we will visit them tomorrow and see how they are doing. We visited Anitas family yesterday and are planning to go today and share a talk from conference with them in Telugu so that should help them. They weren't able to come on Sunday due to the children getting their results from school that day which I think required them to travel to school... Not entirely certain on that part but they are such a great family, the kids are all trying to learn English so they will ask us to read the Book of Mormon and other things with them so the can learn to read.**we asked about how they contact or proselyte and he said that they offer service, free piano lessons or free English lessons from their Church and if they inquire about the Church then they can ask to come pray with them or share a short message and then go from there**

We met with Suresh Antony a couple times this week teaching him piano and also about blessing and passing the sacrament since our Bishop asked him to bless the sacrament next week, so we went over it with him. He was there for each session of General Conference and only struggled to understand a few of the speakers accents.

We will continue to do our best here in India so thank you all for your prayers and support.**tough week this week with so much rejection…he was super touched in General Conference this time as he noticed the prayers for the missionaries, it hit him straight in the heart to hear that, and we reminded him that there are prayers worldwide in church meeting houses and temples for all of the missionaries and in his home ward specifically for him. It means so much to him and to us for that and for all of his friends and family who read his letters who pray for him. It’s a hard thing to ask of any kid to leave his friends and family, go to a 3rd world country to swelter, be rejected, and not understand the language of more than half of the people he runs into. He’s grateful to have good companions, chill missionaries to live with, and a guitar to play though so all will be okay!**

Week #36 - Ramamurthy Nagar - "Three amigos or Three stooges?"

Well this week Elder Tolbert came back from Chennai, he went there for registration, but he doesn't have a companion for his area. So Elder Schurr, Tolbert and I are altogether with both of our areas. So we have done a lot of tracting in both of the areas and meeting a lot of people in Elder Tolbert's area since there were no Elders there for a week.

Yesu's family went out of town for a couple weeks and we have been struggling to meet with the others we are teaching but we will see how we can this week.

Wasn't able to sing in church this week since it was fast and testimony meeting and next week will be general conference so I don't know when I'll be able to do that.

It's getting hotter here, the locals have mentioned that this summer is hotter than previous ones. Though Bangalore still has more calm weather than the other areas in the mission.

Sorry that this is a short letter, I just cant think of much else that happened this week. So until next week

Week #35 - Ramamurthy Nagar - "Blue Limes change Lives"

So their is a big chain drink shop called Lassi Shop, at these shops they sell a super great drink called Blue Lime which is pretty much a Blue Raspberry Lime slushie so it is really nice when it is this hot outside. The subject line is because we met someone at the Lassi Shop that we started teaching piano to and she also wants to learn more about our church, her name is Prettisha. She also sings so I had invited her to church to hear me sing. Last week I didn't get to sing due to a lack of time and this week I couldn't sing either because Elder Lowe, who was accompanying me, got sick and couldn't play. So next week hopefully for sure I will be able to sing.

Well transfer calls came and I am staying here but my companion is headed off to Hyderabad. My new companion will be Elder Schurr who was in my Zone in Vizag so I actually already know him so it will be a good transfer. He goes home in 3 months with Elder Lowe so we will see what good work we can do until then.

This last week was Yesu's birthday so we went over to their home and brought a cake and celebrated. Their family is doing super well but they weren't able to come to church yesterday for some reason. We are going there tonight after I get my new companion so I'll let you know how they are next week.

Both me and my companion got sick on back to back days so that was fun. Suresh Antony got a calling in church yesterday so that was awesome to see. He is going to be the ward usher, essentially his job is to be a teacher each week, welcome everyone into the building and then stay by the door I think. We will help him get the hang of it.

That was pretty much this week. I should have a good number of photos to send so look for those.
Love,
Elder Williams
